Company Background
Sigma-X Ltd was founded in 2003 and since February 2004 has had its headquarters in Galway on the National University of Ireland Campus.
Sigma-X develops and markets analysis and design software solutions for the structural engineering industry. Sigma-X offers structural engineering specific analysis and design functionality currently not available with finite element programmes;i.e. realistic post tensioning functionality and design to the EuroCodes. Sigma-X also provides a structural engineering consultancy service which has the benefit of keeping Sigma-X software focused on what structural engineers really want from the analysis and design of structures.
Mission
Sigma-X’s mission is to become the leading provider of software solutions for the structural engineering industry by researching, developing, consulting and marketing high quality software, with a particular focus on pre stressing and post tensioning software.

Sigma-X is supported by venture capital funding through Enterprise Equity and grant aid through Enterprise Ireland
Managing Director, James Lee James received his BE in Structural Engineering in 1989 from NUI Galway, an MSc in Bridge Engineering and a PhD in Structural Engineering from the University of Surrey in England. James has over 20 years experience in the structural engineering industry, research and the structural engineering/finite element software industry.
Business Development Director, Maria Moynihan
Maria, who joined Sigma-X in 2003, holds a B.Comm. also from NUI Galway. Maria has considerable experience in project management across a broad range of activities from rural development to managing the largest festival in Ireland. Maria was named ‘Business Person of the Month’ for April 2003 by Business and Finance magazine.
