Sigma-X Consultancy has completed the analysis, design and drawings for the post tensioned floors for an office development in South Gyle, Edinburgh, Scotland. The post tensioned floors of this structure are 275mm deep and have spans of up to 9m.
Associated with the final design and together with our client Sigma-X Consultancy (i) reduced the original slab depth by 10%, (ii) made the slab depth constant throughout (it had previously local thickened regions) and (iii) for architectural reasons ensured the design would allow a Type C2 (very smooth) soffit finish.
The post tensioning and mild steel quantities used for this job were 4.8kg/m2 and 15 kg/m2, respectively. These quantitied/rates make the floors of this structure very economical compared to other methods of construction.
The image to the left shows the plan of a floor of the building as modelled in Sigma-X Post Tension Floor software.
This consultancy project was finished ahead of schedule for our client ConForce Ltd, www.conforce.co.uk.
