Sigma-X Section is a SolidWorks Partner Product. Sigma-X Section calculates the properties of any shape no matter how simple or complex. Sigma-X Section is probably the most powerful and efficient Section Property Calculator on the market.
Sigma-X Section is very easy to use please verify this by clicking on the ‘Menu’ list on the left of this page.
Sigma-X Section will calculate the Geometric and Equivalent/Transformed Material Properties of any Standard, Arbitrary and/or Built Up Sections.
Use Sigma-X Section to calculate Area, Inertia, Elastic Neutral Axis, Plastic Neutral Axis, Elastic Modulus, Plastic Modulus, Section Centroid, Torsion Constant, Warping Constant, Shear Area, Shear Centre, Principal Properties and Equivalent Material Properties of any shaped cross section. Sigma-X Section calculates the section properties using both the Boundary Element Method and the Finite Element Method. Section maybe drawn with Sigma-X Section, imported from AutoCAD (DXF format) or digitised from scanned images.
Sigma-X Section has been proven in tests against ten other common calculation tools to be the only one which is 100% accurate 100% of the time. Users are invited to take the 'Sigma-X Section Challenge' for themselves and compare the results from their current calculation tools against calculations proven by theory and against Sigma-X Section.
Tests of 10 other section property calculators showed all of them to be incorrect and outside the acceptable limits of accuracy. The tests found errors in both the basic load independent properties (area, inertias…) and load dependent properties (neutral axis, elastic and plastic modulus...). It goes without saying that if any of these properties are wrong the design values for your section will be wrong.
Featuring the most powerful drawing and editing tools including zoom and pan, cut, copy, paste, delete, move, undo and redo, plus the ability to handle curves and voids and an active report writer. Input data graphically, from tables, from our built-in library of standard sections, from AutoCAD dxf files or from digitised images (scanned photos or drawings).
