Q: Has Sigma-X Post Tension Floor been used to design any structures?
A: Yes Sigma-X Post Tension Floor has been used to design several office blocks in the UK.
Recent projects which used Sigma-X Post Tension Floor include multistorey office buildings in Manchester and Edinburgh. To see details of these and other projects please go to the news section of this web site.
Q: When will the post tension products be available?
A:
For the foreseeable future Sigma-X Post Tension Floor and Sigma-X Post Tension Bridge will be used exclusively by Sigma-X Consultancy rather than be sold on the open market. These products give Sigma-X Consultancy a clear advantage as they allow us to perform post tension analyses and designs quickly, efficiently and accurately.
Sigma-X Post Tension Floor has been used in the design of numerous post tensioned floor slabs by Sigma-X Consultancy in Ireland and the UK.
Sigma-X Post Tension Bridge has been used by Sigma-X Consultancy to check the design of several medium span post tensioned motorway bridge beams in Ireland.

Q: Is it easy to learn how to use Sigma-X Section?
A: Yes, we suggest that you start by viewing our online demonstrations. These plus the 'quick introduction' should be all that you need to become fully proficient within minutes.
Q: How accurate is Sigma-X Section?
A:
We have paid very particular and careful attention to getting all of the numbers calculated absolutely right for any shape.
We calculate section properties using two independent methods. The first method uses Green's Theorem. This is an exact method and can be used to calculate the area, inertias and centroids. This method has been verified by published and theoretical data to be absolutely correct.
For properties such as the torsion and warping constants, the shear centre and shear areas an approximate method has to be used. We have used the finite element method. We have taken great care in the development of our finite element processes to make them accurate, easy to use and numerically transparent. This means that you can easily generate a quality finite element mesh for whatever shaped section you require the properties of.
If you would like to test our accuracy why not take the 'Sigma-X Section Challenge' but prepare to be shocked by the inaccuracies of other calculation tools!
(i) Calculate the area, inertias and centroid of a simple triangle using any section property calculator,
(ii) calculate the same properties by hand using the well known theory and
(iii) compare the results.
We did the same for ten sections property calculators on the market, ranging from cheap to expensive finite element systems, and all of them were incorrect and outside the acceptable limits of accuracy. Try this for yourself, use the free trial to verify that Sigma-X Section is 100% correct, 100% of the time!
